Moving in Westminster: what to know

Westminster is home to about 115,000 people and spans Adams and Jefferson counties. It was settled in 1870 and incorporated in 1911, and the red Westminster Castle near 83rd Avenue and Federal Boulevard, the old Westminster University building that gave the city its name, is still a local landmark. The area around it, Historic Westminster, runs roughly from 72nd to 88th Avenue between Federal and Sheridan and has buildings dating back to the late 1800s.

The city keeps changing. Downtown Westminster has grown up where the Westminster Mall once stood at 88th and Sheridan, with new apartment buildings, and the B Line commuter rail connects Westminster Station, near 71st and Federal, with Denver Union Station. If you’re moving into or out of an apartment building, reserve the elevator early and ask where a moving truck can park.

US-36, the Denver-Boulder Turnpike, cuts diagonally across the city, I-25 runs along its east side, and Federal and Sheridan boulevards carry traffic north and south. In newer neighborhoods, check whether your HOA has rules for moving trucks, parking or move-in hours, and let us know about them when you call.
